Happy 7th birthday to our kind, contented, super smiley, gentle and pure magic wee boy x
You no longer jump in the shower with your clothes on or cover your face in pens.
You no longer have meltdowns in the supermarket, making me feel stressed and tense.
You are still super cute and I often want to kiss your face, but you no longer let me hold you in such a long embrace.
You still love to play and have lots of fun, but I’ve noticed there is less of you calling out ‘Mum’.
How much longer will I get away with being so gushy, will you always stay this chilled or will you get a bit fussy?
How much longer will you grin and squeal in delight when I bring you a hot water bottle to bed at night?
How much longer will my stories make you laugh till you cry or you hold me so tight when I kiss you goodbye?
How much longer will you ask me to come and play or call my name when you’re hurt and need your tears kissed away?
How much longer will you put that little hand in mine as I say ‘come on boy, we better watch our time’?
How much longer will you ask me to come join in mario cart and shout ‘Mum, we’ve got this’ as we are about to start?
How much longer will you blow out my scented candles and smile, even thought I beg you to let them burn for a while?
How much longer will you tell me i’m your favourite girl around and be proud to hold my hand as we walk around town?
How much longer will you want me to walk with you to school, before you decide that it’s just no longer cool?
I don’t know how much longer but I will milk it while I can, cos you’re still our super cute and carefree little man.
I pray you will stay this excited about living, constantly beaming and smiling, so much joy you are giving.
I hope you keep curious, gentle and fun, melting peoples hearts as you shout ‘hello’ and smile at everyone.
Happy birthday sweet boy, keep being who you are,
A bright shining light and our smiling superstar.
