Over the summer, we enjoyed a fab evening swim at Avon Lagoon in Linlithgow. The water was pretty warm and the kids loved it so much. I was shocked at how busy it was, the vibes were pumping jumping and there were so many wild swimmers and families splashing about and embracing the cold (ok warm ish) water buzz.
It was one of those nights that I am pretty sure the kids will remember in years to come.
This is also a great spot for paddle boarding. There are lots of grassy areas to sit around the lagoon and lots of entry points. The car park is pretty tiny and then you walk over a grassy patch and down a super steep, shaded hill covered in trees. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the lagoon. I am sure there are lots of other parking spots nearby.
If you live in Edinburgh, this is around a 30 – 40 minute drive. Why not make a day of it and check out the amazing Linlithgow Palace which is situated in the town of Linlithgow, a 2 minute drive away from Avon Lagoon.
I would also recommend going for lunch or dinner at Champany Inn. I have only eaten for lunch in The Chop and Ale house. The last time I was there was January 2020 before all the madness. I remember a few things, the chips are epic as are the burgers, grilled chicken and homemade salsa and the puddings. It has been closed but is due to open soon and I can’t wait to go back.
The toliets are pretty cool too, we always check out the toliets!
I am going to go back to Avon lagoon for an Autumn morning swim so will need a nice lunch and some good coffee to warm me up. Let me know if you go to any of these spots and don’t forget to tag me across social @jojofrasermojo or #mojoinjection
