Today, I share a story on time for a mojo injection, podcast episode 111. The story is about a time a few years ago when my body felt heavy. I was carrying around hurt, anger and resistance which is absolutely exhausting for the body. My brother had called to check in on me as I didn’t seem like myself. Sometimes we are triggered and the mind gets noisy, which drains us. It can be easy to judge people and assume they are ‘overreacting’ but we all see the world through a different lens. We have different values and have picked up different beliefs, some that are burried deeply and need released. My friend Amanda got in touch, to ask if I would like to join her for an hour meditation class. I thought that the timing was ideal. So off we went to @restorationyard for a session led by my friend @lynettegray.co.uk.
I let it all out on the mat, crying my eyes out quietly and sending love to anyone who I felt resentment towards. I left the class feeling lighter and at peace. Lynette thanked me for showing up fully. The thing is, we aren’t supposed to hold onto negative energy for long. There are many amazing tools for releasing it. I talk about some on the podcast this week. Is it time to release and feel lighter? I would love you to join me in the mojo cave to explore this more, we all need a den.
I told my daughter Bonnie around a few years ago, when she was about 5 years old, that if someone is mean to her she should do two things.
1. Ask if the person is ok then
2. Suggest they try meditation 🤣🤍
At first I meant the meditation part as a joke, but as I share on the podcast, it’s actually an amazing tool for releasing negativity.
Bonnie and I have been meditating together on and off for a few years. I’m going to try and stay more consistent with it, especially through home schooling 🤪 it really helps with patience, forgiveness and compassion. It’s also wonderful for turning down the dials on the inner critic aka ego. I find it exciting that schools are slowly introducing it now. I’ve always found water the most natural place to meditate. A proper mojo injection. I took the above images of Bonnie the other day. She came out as I was deep in meditation and asked if she could join. We did a couple of guided sessions together and it was so lovely. We felt proper zen after it.
Charlie is now getting to the age, he is currently 6, that he wants to get involved. Before, he would jump up and down on our heads. Way to kill the mood when you are getting into the zone.
There are many ways to release negative energy, but whilst a good run or boxing session can let off steam, I find that nothing beats a proper heart led, loving kindness meditation practise. It allows us to get still and with that we get deep and come out the other side with a new found clarity.
I think it is so important to keep an open mind. Bad beliefs create bad habits. How can we challenge any beliefs that we have picked up if we don’t take the time to get still? When our mind is relaxed, we are less likely to live on impulse. Conscious practises allow us to become aware of our thinking patterns and then we have the option to level up.
There are quirks in our history and our cultures are not always created by pure, rational choice. So stay curious. You got this.
