My burning star – a letter to the sun

My burning star – a letter to the sun

I love basking in the power you have over me.  You slow me down.  You are addictive.  Even when I have a long list of things to do, you pull me in.  As that blast of heat soaks into my skin, I feel calm.  I am at home.

You feel even better when I am in the water, be it the ocean, a lake or a pool.  I would happily take a paddling pool too.  You give me a glow and I always look my best after having quality, slower days with you.

You have this nack for making places look their most beautiful when you are around.  You have been there with me on some of my wildest days.  You make me smile.  You give me energy.

I love dancing under you.  So many great songs remind me of long days spent together, found in music.  The beach is never quite the same if you are not there.

You make me want to let my hair down.  I feel free.

A cold drink tastes so much better when you are with me.

I love the fact you show up for celebrations, like on our wedding day, I will never forget the way you looked that night as you left us.  Sunset is my favourite colour.  You were out in full flow the day I became a Mum for the first time. You have shone down so often, at the most appropriate moments.  I never take this for granted.

Sometimes I like it when you give me a bit of space too. When I ran my first marathon you were  there, which was pretty hard on me. It was bittersweet because you made the route even more beautiful.  You slowed me down though, you are a force to be reckoned with.

We have spent a lot of time together already this year.  We have made some great memories.  The moments where I lay soaking up your warmth, I can’t help but reminisce of older days.  So many moments and places and you have been there with me.

You are a beautiful partner to a coffee and a good book.  You signify positive vibes, laughter with family and friends, vitamin D, salty air and the smell of sun cream.

You shone on me not so long ago, in desperate moments, you showed up fully and took my breath away.  I will never forget feeling you through those stained glass windows.  Thank you.

Keep shining bright my burning star.
