Pregnancy – Keeping the mojo when you are trying to conceive a baby

tRYING TO CONCEIVE, trying to get pregnant

Many couples get to a stage in their lives where they consider trying for a baby, or they want to add to their family. It is an exciting decision to make and one that may have taken some time to reach, however, there is always going to be a worry of the future, what will happen, and whether trying to conceive journey is going to be simple or complicated. No one really knows. But there are things that you can do or consider to help you have the best chance. Here are some of them.

Legs High

If you have read my book, you will have a sense of how much I wanted to conceive.  Yes, I overshare and I don’t care, because a few have written to tell me that my tips about lying with my legs in the air really helped.  Plus, it’s a nice chance to unwind with a good book or perhaps fit in a little meditation.  So go for it, lie back, legs high and relax.  Don’t go rushing off to the loo.

Think about your diet

One of the first things you should consider is your diet. There are always going to be things you can do to have a healthier diet, and there are certain foods like leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits. Making sure that you get all the right nutrients and vitamins is an excellent way to have control over something when it comes to trying to conceive.

Get to know your cycles

I found this really helped. What is the point in going for it, even when you are shattered #passionkiller, when you are not fertile.  It may sound obvious, but tracking your cycle can give you an indication as to when you may be ovulating. Keeping a record in an app on your phone or in your diary can help you know the length of your cycle and when the best time might be to conceive. I also loved the sticks just to be sure.

Consider IVF and other fertility options

Sometimes you may find that you have been trying to have a baby for some time, and you may need to look into reasons as to why it might be taking some time. In some cases, there may not be any reason, but often you may be able to take up the chance of using fertility treatments and hormones as well as considering IVF. You could look into a search for IVG clinics in the UK to find the right place for you. These options may not be applicable, but it can be comforting to know that you have options should you need to explore them.  I think we need to remove the stigma of IVF.

Take a relaxed approach

Trying to conceive can mean that you can get overwhelmed with dates, ovulation, your body temperature and when the right time is. The truth is, if you do become a little obsessed and anxious about the whole thing, sometimes this can work against you. Instead a great tip is to just go with the flow, enjoy the process and be intimate with your partner and try and have faith that it will happen when it is supposed to. So many couples say that when they stop focusing on conceiving is the time that it happens for them.   I know this is easier said than done but can you think of a way you can relax and unwind?  For me, it’s going for a massage or facial, lying reading or watching a great movie, writing (notepads are always a great gift).

Exercise and take better care of yourself

Finally, exercise and taking better care of yourself physically and mentally can also help you when it comes to conceiving. Being in the best possible shape can give you a better chance when it comes to conceiving. Plus, being out in nature is great for us.  Once you get fitter from walking or running, you get a mega mojo injection.

Most importantly, don’t be so hard on yourself.  Please!  Keep the faith.
