I was doing an interview with the awesome Radio Forth earlier and I started feeling pretty emotional when they asked me about the book. It has been a whirlwind of a few days and I feel like I need a holiday, a proper book honeymoon. No time for that though as now the hard work begins to spread the news everywhere. I am blown away by all the very powerful feedback I have had about the book so far which gives me the energy to work hard to ensure it reaches more people.
I said at the launch that I would have LOVED to have invited more people but I really wanted to make sure Saturday was as intimate an event as possible so that I could speak to everyone. The castle was absolutely buzzing and it’s safe to say that with the amount of tags I have seen across the various social media channels, the amazing Borthwick Castle is no longer a hidden gem. What a place and what a team!
My friend Pete helped me make a podcast of the launch which is totally uncut so you can tune in to hear all and I hope it allows you to feel like you were part of the celebration with me. I was a bit emotional and I forgot about the podcast during the singing so sorry for any bum notes, those were the moments I was trying to hold back to tears because the amazing Diane Curtis, who styled me for the day, had applied my makeup so beautifully.
Saturday was also a chance to show off our limited edition Mojo candle, which I helped to design with the extremely talented Sophie Cotton from Cotton & Co. We have had amazing feedback about these candles already from the beautiful art, the smell and the general quality of them. The icing on the cake is that 40% of profits go to Mind charity.
A real highlight was raising the roof at the Castle, as my bro absolutely smashed it on piano, little Bonnie rocked the mic like a star and all my wonderful guests joined in with some awesome tunes. Clearly the mojo cocktails worked their magic. I was also touched to hear that my bro had worked out how to play some of the tunes that feauture as quotes in the book. He did all this in 24 hours and totally smashed it.
I am feeling SO thankful right now for all the support. My massive dream for 2018 has come true and this is only the start.
Thanks to Rachael Lynch at Beautiful Bairns photography for snapping some beautiful moments.
