Last week I was kindly invited to Chamomile Sanctuary, in the West end of Edinburgh, for some top to toe pampering. I am a wellness geek so of course I said YES PLEASE.
I asked a client recently how they found my blog and they said it comes up tops on google organic for a lot of keyword searches. I had a snoop and was in for a very positive shock. The searches I was most excited by were the ones with the word wellness. I currently come up number 1 for wellness blogger in Scotland and Edinburgh (which includes wellness spa for Edinburgh and Scotland too – I am slightly spa obsessed). Now as Google pretty much rule the world, this discovery was an amazing feeling. Plus, it gets me some pretty amazing invites like a trip to Chamomile Sanctuary.
Read on and you might just get one too.
One of my goals at the start of 2017 was to be known for making a difference in the wellness industry. My passion is to make wellness cool. I can safely say, I will NEVER lose that passion and I will continue to work hard at it. Because self care is too low on the priority list of many.
I have a confession though, because I promised from the start I would always keep it real. The truth is, yes I smile a lot, yes I love to be positive BUT I am a frazzled, teeth grinding, working Mama. We are all frazzled these days, trying our best to keep the wellness levels in check. Finding time for self care is something I strive to do. It is my wellness injection and if you have seen the latest stats you will be more than aware that we all need one. The stats and constant sad stories fuel me with passion to keep working hard to make a difference. Which starts with honesty. It starts with being open.
I am often rushing around like mad. I work (A LOT), I run after my kids (A LOT), I train hard (A LOT), I spin plates (A LOT) as I grind, grind, grind those teeth. Do you know I wear a mouth splint when I sleep now? The dentist had one made out for me to wear behind closed doors. It ain’t sexy. In fact, the hubs often nips across the hall to the spare room. He say’s it’s because I steal his covers and he is sick of the kids running through at 5am but perhaps he was trying to be polite….. I digress.
Now, if you watched my Insta stories, you will have witnessed the trance that the talented team at Chamomile put me into. I was in a bubble for the entire day and I had the most incredible sleep that night. The following day my bestie sent me a Whatapp saying ‘Jojo, have you had botox??!!’ Well I did use the word wellness injection and my skin was looking pretty damn fine, I won’t lie.
The team at Chamomile pampered me with the ultimate Anti-Ageing Treatment – a luxury Age Summum facial. This facial uses pure Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid and Pro-Collagen to target the signs of ageing. Active ingredients are penetrated into the skin using the exclusive Age Summum anti-ageing facial massage. Fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed and the skins youthful radiance is restored.
My skin was looking fantastic, I was glowing. Yes, I took a few selfies and why the hell not? I didn’t want this incredible pampering to go to waste and one thing blogging and vlogging has taught me – do content shots in batches. Batches when looking ones best. Good skincare is like exercise. It takes work. You can’t just go to the gym once and have a 6 pack – how epic would that be?
Before the facial I had an intensive muscle release on my back, which was SO satisfying. I lift a lot of weights so I need to get regular massages. That in itself is a reason to lift weights.
I also run, squat, leg press, walk/run up a hill for the school run and dance like a nutter (music is key to my wellness) a lot so of course a heavy leg and foot relaxer was needed. I was taken upstairs to the beautiful, vogue worthy nail room for this part.
My legs and feet were brushed, soaked, exfoliated and refreshed with hot towels before a gel and oil massage. HEAVEN! No wonder I slept like a baby that night.
Chamomile Sanctuary was opened in 2010 to offer Edinburgh beauty lovers the standards of a luxurious countryside spa to the heart of the city. The lovely team share my passion for wellness and self care by the bucketload.
Seven years on it has become recognised as one of the leading beauty destinations in the city. Sometimes described as ‘a beauty utopia’ Chamomile Sanctuary is somewhere you can escape to, take time for yourself and enjoy a wide range of fabulous beauty treatments. Look good, feel good.
It defo gets the thumbs up from me. In a world full of frazzled teeth grinders, make self care a priority. Wellness matters.
Chamomile Santuary have kindly offered one of my readers the chance to experience this incredible Age Summum facial. To enter please like and share this post across facebook and tag a friend who deserves to be pampered. The lucky winner shall be announced on Sunday 17th December. Mummy Jojo and Bonnie to the V style – we love these comedy vlogs round our house.
