I was recently invited along to the premiere of Oscar’s Amazing Adenture, written and produced by Colin Granger. It’s always a risk taking young kids to a show. Would our cheeky, bostrious and slightly sensative little 2 year old sit still? I like to live on the edge a little so accepted the kind invitation.
The show is suitable for 2 to 8 year old, so I figured it was a risk worth taking. Also, given the fact that the premiere was on 2nd of August, the first official day of the festival, I was slightly excited. The main reason being that I feel I have missed so much of the Edinburgh festival over the past few years due to the “early years” of parenting madness. It’s time for a change. Whilst my days drinking and dancing in the Spiegel tent until 4am may be over, I am keen to get those little ragamuffins of mine out for some Edinburgh adventures.
The atmosphere was buzzing and the kids were soaking up the Vibes. The 2nd of August was National Play Day, which is to remind us of the importance of outdoor play for all ages. I loved watching the kids running around, free like little birds.
They were super excited about the show.
This charming play is about a cute little Swiss puppy called Oskar, who has been snowbound in the little house on top of the mountain for weeks. He is desperate for a game and goes out into the forest to find a friendly animal to play with. Oscar meets a few animals along the way which makes for an exciting and entertaining story.
Performed by the wonderful and exceptionally charasmastic Natasha Granger, we are introduced to Grandma and her animals. The audience are encouraged to join in throughout the show. Natasha has an incredible nack for keeping the little people fully engaged AND adults too for that matter. She is a fantastic actress and played all characters beautifully. Not as easy challenge to move from voice to voice and character to character.
Our kids were laughing, gasping and smiling the entire way through. It was so lovely seeing their little faces light up. The memory of this shall stay with me.
Thanks for a wonderful show folks. I would highly reccommend this for little people and I shall need to get my hands on the book to let the magic continue at home.
