Places I go to feel inspired in Edinburgh

As mentioned in my article in the evening news yesterday – Edinburgh and creativity go together like tea and toast.  I feel extremely lucky to be able to call Edinburgh my home, it’s just unfortunate about the house prices #wow.

Edinburgh truly is a beautiful city and we never have to go too far to be inspired. Inspiration is all around us, we just need to get off that sofa and find it.

JK Rowling loved to write in The Elephant House, on George IV bridge.  I love the haunting nature around that part of the city.  I was married in Greyfriars Kirk and always feel like I have had a spell put over me when I visit.  Perhaps it is no coincidence that Harry Potter has transfixed so many of us – what a beautiful place to create such heroic characters.

I love the fact that in Edinburgh we are so close to the sea.  Sometimes the sound of the ocean and the smell of the salty air is all we need to keep us feeling grounded.  No matter what troubles we face, the sea has a calming effect over us.  Nature is powerful.

The sunsets in South Queensferry are truly stunning and there are so many places to sit and watch them.  I love the boat house bistro and wine bar.

The Boardwalk Beach Cafe is a fantastic place to go for a coffee.  Check out these views. Cramond beach is one of my favourite places to go for a run.  The 5k park run at 930am on a Saturday is one to remember.  I get a lot of my best writing ideas when I run.  My feet are moving but my mind is calm and clear to think of fresh ideas that people will enjoy.

I love to get cosy and create the home from home vibe.   I am a big fan of Rollo in Stockbridge (tapas, wine and coffee all delicious).

Arthur’s seat will always be one of my favourite places to reflect.  The views are breathtaking and I have enjoyed many wonderful and pretty deep conversations whilst walking, climbing or running.  This is a view Edinburgh can be proud of.

Being at home is comfortable.  It feels warm, safe and secure.  We all need to find balance though.  Get out and learn.  Start a new adventure.  Follow your passions and dreams. People watch.  Soak up atmosphere.  Be inspired.  Live.
