Our perfect Peter Rabbit party

Our perfect Peter Rabbit party

The texts have been flowing in about how much of a hit our daughters 4th birthday party was at the weekend.  As much as I love to throw a party, I can take none of the credit on this occasion.  It was all down to one magical collaboration between Jenn’s Den, a favourite Edinburgh hang out of ours and the super talented and creative themed party planner, Kirsty from A Wonderful World of Parties.

As I got in the car to head to the party I felt like I had forgotten something.  Surely it shouldn’t be this easy?  What a treat. I started to get just as excited as our little Bonnie in the back.  You see, Kirsty and the team at the den were working hard to throw us our number 1 party theme – Peter Rabbit.  That dude is a serious hit in our house, isn’t he timeless?

When we arrived I was blown away by all of the little touches and ideas.  There was a mini Mr McGregors garden which was also a show stopper with our 1 year old.

As Kirsty comes from a teaching background, she had an array of fun and educational activities up her sleeve to fit in with the theme, from Peter Rabbit colouring to scarecrow making and several games to keep the little people amused and out of mischief.

The kids were especially impressed with the cling film pass the parcel game – who knew it could store so many sweets?

The ‘Peter Rabbit buffet’ had the wow factor  – they even managed to carve rabbit ears into the little baguettes.  I actually wouldn’t have known where to start with this.

The kids were all equally impressed and couldn’t stop staring at the table.

I had to keep going back and looking myself.  It was quite sad when the time came for people to fill their plates, it looked too good to eat.  As did the cake, which was supplied by  Champagne Celebrations – how cool is this?

It was lovely to see all the parents relaxing with either one of Jenn’s Dens fab coffees or a glass of bubbly (a big benefit of having exclusive use).  That is the way it should be – parents all deserve treats as much as the kids.  I understand that more than ever now.  There was so much to keep the kids amused which meant that adults could actually stop and enjoy some conversation.  Each time I started chatting to someone else I felt a bit guilty like I should be doing something but nope the team had it all taken care of.  Kirsty had created beautiful party favors and brought them along in keeping with the theme.

The team at Jenn’s Den cut the cake and had it all wrapped and ready at the door as our guests left. As I say, everything was fully taken care of which was a total treat. I had no idea that a kids birthday bash could be so relaxing.  In the car home Bonnie told me ‘Mummy Jojo I will remember that party forever’ and I believe her.  I definitely will too.

ps –  The face painting at the Den is a must x
